VOLUME 1, CHRONICLE 1, PREAMBLE: “Let me tell you a story”… That’s how it started a little over 3 years ago with a note to my new granddaughter to a small circle on social media. Now, thanks to one who works in the word industry, & preloaded the site with a few of my compositions & believes in my ability & a domain as a Christmas gift, the brand’s going somewhere between global & a county line run. The name, if you know me well, comes from two staircases, one at a school, one at a church that sit only a ¼ mile apart. The church one, I still walk on Wednesdays & Sundays, the scholastic one, my feet haven’t struck it since 1977. I learned, in the concrete or the abstract, in a gym or a Sunday School class, a school cafeteria or a church pool, everything I needed to know to keep things together when everything seemed to be coming from together. The steps are pictured heading up & there’s intentionality to that. On or around those steps, I was offered souvenirs from life’s gift shop,  given by people named Moser, Careathers, Bowman, Secondine, Farrow, Pitts, Kines, Vaughn, Chapman, Hoover &…Dad on the way to their obituary. Souvenirs I’ve applied, will apply & now share until I meet my obituary. This opus will be, in a spin on the late Jim Valvano’s words on a full day, an effort to move you, the reader, to laugh, to cry, to think, to leave you inspired to act on the uncomfortable, like I finally acted with those first six words on the belief of my Dad & my junior high English teacher that I could arrange nouns & verbs like composers with sharps & flats. There’ll be stories of faith, family & family with different last names, friends & friends I’ve yet to become acquainted with,  occasional autobiographical efforts, some sports because you can’t take away what the Good Lord included & a dash or two of Boomer pop culture & guest appearances by Miss Julie’s Pool Boy & the #ChaplainOfAthletics. So for all y’all magnificent browsers that have endured my posts on various sites, likes, follows, shares, & comments would be appreciated now more than ever & I hope you’ll stick around for Chronicle 2 & let me tell you a story…
