DADDY’S, WEDDINGS, & FULL TREES: Yesterday morning, I drank coffee in a dark silence broken only by the light & sound of the TV & The Andy Griffith Show. I’d seen the episode, “Opie the Birdman”, the one where Opie takes 3 orphaned birds from nest to flying in 22 minutes multiple times, but yesterday the ending when Opie holds an empty cage & Andy states, “…but don’t the trees seem nice & full”, hit hard. All day hard & 20 hours later, still throwing Apollo Creed jabs this morning. You see, next weekend, two daddy’s will see years pass like 22 minutes as their babies fly to each other & they say their “I do’s”. Two babies will add an extra dad, I’m one of ‘em. I’m sure like me, the other daddy’s front door & fridge will always be open. Like me, while those 2 babies will turn to each other for shelter & warmth, he’ll have a roof & blanket on standby. I hope he’s as thrilled as me (the 2nd time for me) that God out kicked his coverage in answering a spouse for a child prayers & I hope he’s as thrilled as me to be the other dad. Next week, those babies will, after an exchange of rings & vows, fly down the aisle & out the door to a new nest. Two daddy’s will have nests that are emptier & quieter, but won’t the trees seem  nice & full…
